Finding Your Niche

"You can have anything you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want..."

- Zig Ziglar

Ok... let's get right to it...

This is how you start a business from scratch...

It starts with identifying a group of people with a specific need or problem...

Let me rephrase that with more punch...

#1 Identify a group of people who are already buying products or services to fulfill a need or solve a problem...

#2 Find out what they are ALREADY looking for

#3 Offer it to them...

That's it...

Now let me give you a tip...

There are 3 mega niches...

*Health

*Wealth

*Happiness

The work that needs to be done here is...

... narrow down one of these 3 mega niches...

Break them apart until you find a nice pocket where you can help and serve people...

#1 They are endless

#2 You are good enough to get started...

#3 Just do the work...

Got it?

Ok... let's break apart these mega niches into something that works for you...

(Hint: I'll be sharing cool insights and tips through each of these examples...

So read all three niche examples...

.... even if you've already decided on one of these niches)

Health

Ok... step one...

Narrowing down...

Here's what it looks like...

Mega niche

Health

Broad niche

How to lose weight

Narrow niche

How to lose weight for women

Specific niche

How to lose weight for busy moms

Now...

Your turn...

Six pack abs don't show up by accident...

A business is not built by accident...

So do the exercise

The more you are able to narrow down and get specific the easier and faster it will be to tap into the mega niche...

The more specific you are the better you'll be able to relate to your ideal client...

Remember...

Finding a niche is all about figuring out who you want your ideal client to be...

Think about it...

These are the people you will be talking to and SERVING...

So make sure you like them

You must know their specific problem so you can solve it...

... you must know what they are looking for so you can offer it to them...

Wealth

When I first got into real estate I was like most rookie real estate agents...

Operating in a broad niche...

"I help people buy and sell real estate all over town"

.... but as I started to learn this whole finding your niche thingy I realized there were different types of clients...

There were some I enjoyed working with most and so I started to design my business so I would spend more time with my favorite clients...

Here's how I did it...

First, I had to understand what they were looking for...

A house?

A condo?

Horse property?

As I started to break apart the broad niche "home buyers" I started coming up with ideas of who my ideal client would be...

Here's some examples...

My ideal client could have been a bachelor looking for a condo...

... a bachelor pad...

Or it could be a young couple who just got married...

First time home buyers...

Or it could be people who were outgrowing their current home and needed to move to a bigger home...

Point is...

By narrowing down these niches, I started to understand that each of these groups of people had different needs...

Different problems they were looking to solve...

A bachelor would be looking for night life...

They would be looking to move to an area that had a popping night life...

Where as the recently married couple were more likely to look for good schools, low crime areas for their growing family...

They were more concerned with an entry level home within their budget...

Homes with zero down, or assistance programs...

Not too expensive...

Unlike the move up buyers...

They were cashing out equity from their first home and looking to upgrade...

They were looking for luxury...

Bigger

More expensive homes

(with bigger commissions)

... but also had a unique problem I loved to solve...

They needed to sell their current home so they could buy the bigger one...

Read that again...

Did you catch it?

That's 2 transactions with the same clients...

Here's the lesson...

A good niche will allow you to do multiple transactions with the same people...

Which is why I strongly suggest you pick a niche with people you love...

Big aha moment...

Nothing better than making clients happy over and over...

"Repeat business"

Happiness

Happiness is in the journey

I used to think I'd be happy once I achieved success...

... but success doesn't show up at the push of a button...

It comes from prolonged, consistent, repeated action moving in one direction...

You don't hit a hole in one your first time playing golf...

Oh no...

Being a rookie sucks...

So to make sure you can stick through the thick and thin of building your business...

Make sure you have a passion or affinity with the niche you are picking...

You can then safely ignore all the new, shiny, sexy ads telling you that people are making bookoo bucks doing the new flavor of the month social media marketing strategy...

I found happiness in my business came when I created results...

When I helped  someone get results and they'd send me a thank you message...

That fulfilled me more...

Made me happy...

Helping people win is how I design my businesses...

The road ahead is tough...

So pick something you are passionate about and enjoy the journey...

Here's some fill in the blank ideas for you to brain storm and select a niche...

You did the "narrow down your niche" exercise above, didn't you?

That means you know WHO your ideal client is...

Next is...

What do they want?

What are they ALREADY looking for?

What problem are they looking to solve?

Here's some fill in the blanks for you to brain storm...
